Yes, I do. Their what should be held up as models for us all.

I believe that the OP was implying that if the Halls adopted 4 random girls in the US, they could train them to be the best runners they could be, but it would be highly unlikely that that the girls would achieve those kinds of times (which are not championship times, but still very high with regards to percentiles). It supports a point of view held by many people (but resisted by some on these boards) that East African domination of long distance running is primarily due to genetic and cultural differences, not PED-usage, even if there is a PED problem in East Africa (and elsewhere). I am not familiar enough with your posts to know how this relates back to you.
Yes, that is exactly what I implied with my post, thanks for pointing it out for those who didn't grasp it.
The problem what I see here on the boards is that many LRCers can't connect the importance of environmental and genetical background. East African distance running dominantion started long before PEDs were even available for them. Generation after generation they have adapted to living in higher altitude hot weather environment. From early childhood they are active which allows them to attain significant aerobic base early. This is why an average Kenyan boy without any training background can run sub-9:30 for 3k (or sub-75 half after just couple of weeks of training).

Hot weather environment??, ....I don't think so.

I am not in the least bit religious and have no need . But i think very highly of the Halls in adopting these four young women. It is especially heartening to see that their decision kept the sisters together. And their daughter Hana need only enjoy the sport, and use it as a way to express herself as she grows and adapts to being a teenager in this country. I have nothing but respect for the Halls.
That's great that you 'have no need.' I wish I also would never die. You're very lucky to not have to ponder those questions.

This goes without saying. Of course it is about the environment and WAY OF LIFE ( mostly). East African kids run six miles to school and six miles back, and they do it in a low oxygen environment, so their red blood cell development is much higher than those of American kids.
I mean all you have to do is look at the off springs of past and present elite african marathoners, and their kids are not on the same level. Their kids are not running to school. They get bused, and they don't live in barren or rural environments.
However, there is natural development, and then there is doping. Talented africans are taking dope to turn into SUPER Runners. It's equivalent to Barry Bonds, who was already an outstanding player without HGH. He was already a hall of famer, 4 time mvp, and a yearly 40/40 guy. He got on HGH and became a monster baseball player, going from 40 home runs to 60 -70 home runs. That is what a lot of east african runners are doing. Their natural ability allows them to run 2:05 and up, but when they take PEDS they turn into sub 2:05 runners.
Clearly, you see that.

Bingo, the top runners know more than most of the high school coaches

More about training and development
Whew! My PR is still safe.
Only you can break your PR.
Apparently not
I'm fairly sure I read an article that stated that the girls (or perhaps just the two eldest) are older than the year that they compete in for school. Like a junior aged freshman. Is that possible?

Ryan and Sara were just ONE child away from acting out my dream of putting together a full cross country team of adopted east africans. Hopefully they can find another scorer, and quick
Great post. I laughed out loud at this one.

I used to coach. I was replaced by a former girl runner I coached who ran sub 19 on Upstate NY cross-country courses (HILLS).
She has destroyed the program- poor coaching has taken a team that won multiple Section Championships to a boy's team that can't compete with top girls teams.
Most of the runners who "survived" the transition have either gotten slower or quit.
Just because your'e a good runner doesn't mean you could coach.
Apparently that's NOT true for the Halls, I'm just saying that the premise of your question is flawed.
Hana finished 2nd with a 17:14 PR at NXR SW.
She is also AZ D2 state champion.
