Besides I’m from Boston and my dad’s generation you had guys working in factories, smoking, training outside in the winter throwing down 2:30s - 2:40s and not making a stink about it. Show some class.

False. There are no 37 year old truly attractive women.

They should have spent the time getting an education and increasing their income as opposed to running and being poor factory workers. Your dads friends probably beat their wives too.

Agree there should be the same cut off time for both men and women. Make it around 3 hours for both sexes. Men may have the advantage of being a bit more powerful on average than women for distance running, but women have the advantage of weighing less than men on average which is a big help for the marathon distance. There is absolutely no rational justification for dividing the sexes when it comes to qualifying times for marathons.
Are you kidding me? I'm a petite woman and I weigh more than Kipchoge.

Well, you may be "petite" in America. Or, only inside your head..

I think she trains in New Jersey.
What can I say. I definitely miss the good old times when I was BQ-40. No more. I mean, not even close. Hey, and if you would like to register on the first day, and you happen to be a male under 35 you need to run sub-2:40 now. Haha
They never said it was equal. If you're young and can run sub 3, either you're not wanting it enough or you just don't have it. Either way, it's not a big deal. This is not Olympic trials.
Women buy more stuff at the expo. We’ve made ourselves irrelevant.

Also men got to try out and develop at the marathon much longer than women have. Women were not allowed to race longer distances. The playing field is not equal here. Women have been at it for less time.
You are a bunch of privileged white boys.

Seriously? Beyoncé? Jessica Alba? Natalie Portman? None of them are attractive?
Why do women live their lives in this victim mentality?
"Women have fewer female role models in sports so they need easier BQ standards". - Seriously?
Are we doing Affirmative Action for god-sodden sports now?
Yeah Okay Boston wrote:
I ran a 3:00:47 and missed my BQ. I had a female friend on FB saying "You got it you just gotta train harder" Um, these times aren't even balanced. Also to all the morons saying "2:5X" is easy, go look up the statistics on it less than .9% of all marathoners ever run that fast. It's unreasonable considering overweight hobbyjogger women can hit a 3:30 so easily.
The mens 18-35 time now with a 15 min buffer is the womens OTQ standard, lol. A womens 18-35 minus 15 is a 3:15. Let that sink.
stop whining.
run faster.

3:30 is not an overweight hobby jogger time for women. It is not an equivalent time to a 3:00 for men, but no one at the BAA ever said it was supposed to be. Most of the women in the 18-35 group have given up time running for having kids and have to balance their training with child care much more than men do. When I had kids, my wife wanted to go to yoga early in the morning. I offered to skip my run and take care of the kids when they woke up. That lasted about two weeks when the kids would start screaming for mommy in the morning even when I offered donuts and TV at breakfast. Women should absolutely get a softer standard to ensure their participation otherwise it is a race that punishes women for having children.
WHAT? Are you seriously saying more women should be allowed to run Boston because YOU are a terrible parent?
Women get a natural blood boost from childbirth, look it up. And plenty of women choose not to even have kids. You knew what you were getting into when you CHOSE TO HAVE THEM.

I hope not, and I say that as a woman. I like the harder standards. Motivated me. Sure worked this year. Got in as a 10+ qualifier.

This happens all the time. You are the delusional one. In this very thread there is a gross old man talking about how he wants to run behind young women at Boston so he can stare at their asses.
Maybe you're not nearly as attractive as you think you are.

For example, here is an article about a woman who was followed and groped while out on a jog yesterday morning at Green Lake (a very popular running spot in Seattle). I think this type of behavior is disturbingly commonplace.
