not to quibble but it was 15:37, she says she is a lot faster than last year at this time. Almost one year ago she obliterated a number of course records in NY.
Why don't we just wait till her HS career is over before answering this question?

So even faster. What will she run this year?
Zola Budd
Slaney, Tabb, Decker...

Times? If you’re going to state a name m, state some better times.
I really hope she runs FL this year. Would love to see what she does to the Balboa course.
8:37 3000m
15:01.83 WR 5000m
Come on, Mary Decker at age 14 was world class at 800 meters, pretty darn good at 1 mile. Eventually world champ at 1500 and 3,000 meters I believe. Zola Budd was world class (and 5k record holder) in her teens.
agree, a new course record is within reach

Also 5:33 WR 2000m
Katelyn Touhy will be in the 2020 Olympic team . Make the finals of the 5000 finish in top 10. You can quote the hound dog ?
I should have qualified this thread as US XC, but even as best CC HS Runner she may take the cake.
I don’t think either of the two stated women can beat her.
She's all kinds of awesome
Zola Budd ran about 15 flat for 5K at age 17. Let's see if Tuohy gets there. She may.
In a more contemporary comparison, Tuohy is 18 months younger than Jakob Ingebrigtsen. 18 months ago, Jakob was in about 13:5x shape for 5000m. This is no better than 16:15 for a women's 5000m...ON THE TRACK. Whether she matches his progression from her is the big question, but I wouldn't be surprised if she pulls a sub-15:20 5000m indoors this winter.
thanks, good info
I bet there are some African girls her age who have run sub 15:20. Sub 15 would not surprise me nor would sub 4:05 1500 m. Cain and Effraimson demonstrated superior middle distance speed to Touhy though she should narrow that gap.
What I have not seen as yet is the ability to kick really hard. At some point, that will be needed - not in high school or even college maybe, but at world class events.
