Hello, everyone. Been lurking on this forum now for 2 years....learned a lot! Clocked several cross country races in central Pennsylvania in 1983 when I was 17, with my PR at the time of a 14:29. Fast forward 34 years to 2017 and I finally quit smoking and drinking beer (started in 1984...don't know why). When I started running again in 2017 I weighed about 220 (weighed about 120 in high school) and now I weigh 200. Hoping to get down to 140 within the year. Was clocking regular 29 minute 5ks over the year until last week when I well rested and clocked a 25 minute 5k based entirely on long slow distance training. I JUST started weight training, high intensity cycling, swimming and kettlebell training; hoping to start interval training and hill training for the first time since 1983 next month. I am hoping to get to 18:30 by this time next year. Is this feasible/realistic for a guy who will be 53 in a year? Michael
