Hello, I’m a senior in HS that has been a below average sprinter/mid distance runner up until last year when I significantly dropped my times.
I’m 5’11 135 lbs (I know don’t laugh) and I still believe I have a lot more developing to do.
Here’s my PR’s the last three years:
200: 27.3, 26.1, 23.9
400: 58.8, 56.2, 53.5
800: 2:18, 2:19(only raced once that year for the 8) and 2:08.
What kind of times should I expect to hit this year and what kind of training approach should I take from now until late January?
During the season I train with the sprinters mainly and do 1 workout with the distance guys which is considered overdistance intervals for me.
Example week:
Day 1 short speed workout, block starts, drills
Day 2 lifting, hurdle flexibility, drills
Day 3 600-800 intervals with distance
Day 4 lifting, etc
Day 5 More block starts/150m effort workout
Day 6 lifting, etc
Day 7 rest
Towards the end of the season day 1 is like 200-300 hard efforts instead of short speed.
Should I follow this general program going into the season?
Thanks for the advice
