how do you keep your runs from getting boring?
I'm beginning to run again from scratch. I stopped running one year ago because I was running around 30 mpw for two months only saw an improvement from around a 8:10 pace to a 7:50 pace. Shorter runs around 2-5 mi were more fun but I couldn't keep running at a decent pace for more than 5 miles without stopping for breath and to lubricate my knee joints with oil. When I quit running last time, I attempted a few 10+ mi runs and ended up injured and bummed out. the short runs were satisfying but progress was too slow.
How long does it take to reach 70mpw, where you run 12 miles at a 6:30 pace before morning coffee? Should you train harder than you feel comfortable?
