Hi LetsRun Community,
I am currently running at the Division 1 level and I am looking for some help. I am currently 5'8 145lbs. The reason I'm reaching out is because I feel like I'm really under preforming for how much I trained. To sum up my last week of training this summer it was
Monday DBL 20,
Tuesday 1 mile warm up, 8x1 mile at 6:30 pace,400m active recovery, 2mile cooldown,
Wednesday 12
Thursday: 10
Friday 1 mile warm up, 4x 1200m at 5:40 pace, 1 mile cool down, Saturday: Dbl 12
Sunday: 17.
I felt pretty solid doing this. Sore but strong as an Ox
Now at school my coach has a little different philosophy when it comes to training. I believe he pushes us a little to hard on the track and doesn't give us enough miles to run. To put this in context this past week looked like this
Monday: 6 miles tempo @ 5:20 pace then 4 800s @ 2:30 pace, Lift, 2nd run of 4 miles
Tuesday: On the track ( 1600,1200,1000,800,600,500,400,400,200,200) all at 5:00 pace
Wednesday: On the track again 12x400 at 73 pace, Lift, 2nd run of 4 miles
Thursday: 20 100m stride outs
Friday: Pre meet course run (2.5 miles)
Saturday: Race (8k)
Sunday: 5 miles
Total weekly mileage: Just around 45 to 50 miles
I just felt terrible during the race totally burnt out and sore and that's is how i am feeling now. I want to bounce back but I am just feeling run down.
Do you guys have any tips, tricks, or comments I should be doing in order to feel a little fresher a run a better time?
