How many miles should I be running weekly?
I'm a freshman in HS and im running xc this year as well as track next year. Im curious if im running too little miles and not improving or im running too many miles and will burn out. I currently run 30-40 miles a week with 2,000 ft of elevation gain. I normally have 3 hard workouts per week including a fartlek, tempo run, and intervals on the track or hill workout. I also have a long run on saturday between 7-10 miles if I dont have a race. Should I be running more miles or should I keep the same mileage. Will I improve over the year or just stay the same speed if I increase or decrease my mileage? I did lots of speed work over the summer and I was doing about 30 miles a week. My Pr's are below.
