I joined a triathlete club in college. During the extracurricular fair, I was wear spandex... everywhere. Instantly they came up and asked me to join and I did. The club consisted 50/50 men and women.
The twist was... I am an ugly guy and it repelled them.
It was 80 something degrees, and on the FB page, I made a post about doing one of those scheduled runs even though it's so hot! I used the crazy-eyed emoji.

No one joined me on my run, except... this one new guy who joined the club too. However, he was hovering around me, checking his phone (probably the FB page) and then left me.
It was that day when I realized that these clubs are just for meeting people and having fun while sweating and being hot.
I haven't shined yet, but those memories make me stronger and more brilliant.
