If you need 1% improvement, get a Klaus.
(when I click on the pic, it doesn't lead to a 404 or the homepage but...well...I predict web 1.0 in 2020 for LRC)
I'm not crying, you're crying
Without the Germans, it would not have happened.
nice guy.
My one big question for Mr. Gault - was the interview done in English or German? Were translators used?
Great article. Thanks for publishing.
Also, this is a good example of why Germans are awesome. Take what seems like a meaningless, brain-dead task like handing out water bottles at a marathon. Put someone on it who's incredibly overqualified: Klaus, the marathoner/triathlete/engineer. Spend a year planning improvements to the system. Put in redundant back-up systems. And then the whole thing comes together just to shave a few seconds off the greatest marathon ever run.
Every letsrunner who visits Germany should buy him a beer. To Klaus ???

English. Claus' English was very good, though he had to pause a couple of times during the interview to look up the translation for a few words.
If we had to conduct the interview in German, there would have been no interview ;-)
First the article was more about Gault bragging about his 800 retweets. No one care jonny.
Secondly he almost certainly violated copyright law by stealing the video from NBC and posting it on twitter.
Nice story. Claus sounds like a good man.

I just reread the article. There is no mention of how many times it's been rewteeted.
You must be in the industry as the average joe doesn't really give a s*** how many times something is retweeted or whether NBC could make a copyright claim against a few second clip.
We could easily make a "fair use" claim to the clip.
Wow- after reading the actual text of US copyright law I'd say someone could even argue that one could have a sports highlight show and use video highlights from sporting events and it would be allowed.
Maybe we should do that for Diamond League meets. Someone argue against me. Here's what it says:
1976 Copyright act:
Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright.

So John clearly used this clip for comment and arguably news reporting in my book.
C'mon Wejo, sucked in by a troll, Rojo I can understand, but you...
9.9/10 for Drinks Guy, as he didn't pass the drink to EK at the 40k station, it was on the table, EK went to grad it and knocked it over.
Expecting a 10/10 next year, just as with EK, there's always room for improvement.
Great idea but you'd be competing with full-length DL meets freely viewable on YT.
You might get harassed by frivolous takedown attempts, but NBC is rarely the original broadcaster of anything, just go over their head to the source.
You've been running a sports news website for how many years and just found out about fair use?
Well done. wrote:

No, missing the drink actually helped him by making him focus on a strong finish. Also with only 2k to go he was home free as far as dehydration goes, and the extra liquid would have weighed him down.
Track down the handbiker who almost run Kipchoge over.
Wonderful story to cap a wonderful weekend. Today I'm proud of my chosen hobby.
I thought it was Orville Redenbacher!
