Kipsang loses pacers at 31 km
WR is in the bag... if it were some fast but inexperienced marathoner maybe not but Kipchoge knows how to measure himself.
Every single recent marathon major - “we’re targeting 2:15:25” - until Ayana steps up there’s NO danger from the current crop.
39 secs under WR pace at 30K, gap to the WR continues to rise.
Kipsang looks very relaxed, he's running with a much slower cadence than Eliud. I'm not sure if that's because he's slowing down or if he's feeling good or what, it's just a big contrast in style. His pacemakers both just dropped off so he's on his own now.
They're showing Gladys Cherono, she's in the middle of a group of guys. I don't see Tirunesh. They're talking about the gap to the course record, I guess the WR seems unlikely. There's still another woman there who I don't know. Sorry...
Aight rojo. Nobody cares about the weather, we're trying to watch the marathon world record.
he should ditch those arm warmers, they can't be helping at this point
Dibaba got dropped.
And what hell is up with the clock.?
Something does not seem right. Pace clock and tv clock are off.
Yeah buffer to Kimetto's ghost now 52s. Seems like a done deal, considering it's Kipchoge, the GOAT.
Still, he's gotta hold off Kimetto's 14:10 5km surge.. At 35km we'll know if it's still a contest.
rojo wrote: Anyone know what the temperature was when Kimetto set the WR? I think it was cooler. But the following graph confuses me. ... So if you know the weather temp was in 2014, please post it.
you were looking at the wrong station, but basically, at 9 am (race start) the temp was 63F, precipitation zero, wind 8mph from ENE. by 11 am (race finish for leaders) temp had increased to 70F wind to 12 mph still from ENE.
Amos Kipruto's pacemaker just dropped at 33K. His PR is 2:05. (Currently in 2nd place).
Wow he's dropping the pace again!
2:01???
30K was where he started to fall off the pace at breaking2 so the next 5k will be very telling.
yes impressive his focus on the blue line
Kipchoge still looks good at 33km, last km 2:52. I am beginning to believe... He is speeding up.
14:24, 14:36, 14:37, 14:19, 14:28, 14:21 for his 5k splits (and world record pace is 14:34)?
He's getting faster. which is amazing.
He's running 3 seconds a km faster than the pace now. That 's 4+ seconds a mile faster than WR pace.
Right on 2:02 pace at 30km.
He ran 2:01:05 pace from 25k to 30k.
2:49 last K, still looking SO strong
Baumann on the German feed has nice teeth
C,mon Kipchoge!!sub 2:02
Cherono, Aga, Edna!, and then Dibbaba.
