I wouldn't rule it out. He won a European U/20 XC title when he was 16, think won it again at 17.
While that is impressive. I just don't see him beating some of the past champions Patrick Tiernan/Lawi Lalang/Cheserek
which is usually the type of talent that wins.
Patrick Tiernan's Best Times:
800 Metres 1:54.34 Brisbane (AUS) 09 MAR 2012
1500 Metres 3:41.34 Cork (IRL) 18 JUL 2017
One Mile 3:57.59 Cork (IRL) 18 JUL 2017
2000 Metres 5:30.73 Gold Coast (AUS) 07 OCT 2011
3000 Metres 7:37.76 London (GBR) 09 JUL 2017
5000 Metres 13:13.44 Eugene, OR (USA) 27 MAY 2017
Jakob Ingebrigtsen Best Times:
800 Metres 1:49.40 Zürich (SUI) 24 AUG 2017
1500 Metres 3:31.18 Monaco (MON) 20 JUL 2018
One Mile 3:52.28 Eugene, OR (USA) 26 MAY 2018
2000 Metres 5:24.41 Lillestrøm (NOR) 13 SEP 2015
3000 Metres 8:00.01 Bergen (NOR) 01 SEP 2017
5000 Metres 13:17.06 Berlin (GER) 11 AUG 2018
Jakob is 17 and Patrick is 24. Jakob is faster at everything up to 2,000m, in some cases significantly faster. In the 5,000m a mere four seconds separates them. If Tiernan can win an NCAA Div 1 XC title the some can Ingebrigtsen.
