Of course it is entirely possible Emma is right and would be able to say "I told you so" with time, but I think that unlikely. Right now, she's coming across as ungracious, jealous, bitter and a mean girl who thinks anyone faster than her is doping. Lest we forget, the only reason Emma is world champ is not just because Beatrice missed the water jump, but also because she went on to FALL three barriers later, yet still rallied to finish fourth. Beatrice is one tough lady. Emma's logic is also flawed considering one of the people she singles out as clean, Courtney Frerichs, ran a 15-second improvement herself to win that silver medal. I wonder how she reconciles herself with such cognitive dissonance
I've been impressed by Beatrice long before she came to international prominence. She's great at cross country (remember her holding off Genzebe Dibaba in the mixed relays at the XC worlds last year?). She's not only a fast flat runner (8:28) but is tall with an effortless, graceful gait and, unusual for a Kenyan, has an efficient hurdling technique, probably credit to Bram Som (Hyvin Kiyeng and Celliphine Chespol run fast times despite atrocious techniques, only latest sub 9 girl Norah Jeruto seems half decent). Of course she should be running 8:40, only surprise being she didn't do it earlier.
Fun fact about Beatrice: She's such a good hurdler that she won the Kenya Prisons games 400m hurdles with a sub 60. Something new for Emma to think about.
