They say Conseslus has won everything in the steeplechase but he has yet to win the important all africa games title lol....Well he has a chance next year in Morocco. Chebet beats so called favourite houlihan... Big ups to Semenya with a NR to finish second in 400m...... British only chance to get a gold in WC and Olympic, Asher Smith well beaten by both Talou and Ahoure in two weeks. Hmmmm
Shhhhhh. You'll wake the Brits from their slumber. ? The ones that post here think they still matter and the empire isn't long gone.
Hassan very strong, 2:40 for the last 1000m after a not really sluggish 5:46-47.
She was talking with Klosterhalfen afterwards, I wonder if they had agreed beforehand to keep the pace rather quick from the beginning when Klosterhalfen was "rabbiting" to some extent.
Not much going on with surges, simply the ones who could not keep up were eliminated and mostly according to pre-race SB (except for the American who should have beaten the Japanese).
Amos vs. Korir on deck!!
Bummer 53 plus at 400
Korir 1:46.5 in an "untidy" race. Murphy edges Amos for 2nd.

Photo gives it to Murphy. Good to see Korir win a race this slow.
These M and W 4 X 100 relays should be interesting. Americas (USA AND Jamaica) 'should' dominate but handoffs may decide.

Dropped batons for sure.
The Jamaicans will be very worried with the americans in the americas team because of the USA habit of dropping batons in major championships.

Africa dropped the baton. ?

IIRC, Klosterhalfen tends to go to the front early on. Or am I confused?
Boy. Africa took a nasty tumble in the men's 4 X 100m.

I think Houlihan figured she'd just dust them the last lap but Chebet has good speed and kicking in a 4:13 race is different than a 4:04 race.
I must be missing something. It seems to me that this was a 4:16 race because Houlihan ran a fairly slow (for her) last lap -- 1:04. If she'd run the last lap today as fast as she did at USAs, it would have been a 4:09 race.
Is this not true?

No, you are right. She does not need to be told to do that. She probably wanted to avoid a slow first 1000m with frantic surges at the elimination laps.
I am still surprised wrote:

No, the 64 lap was 800-1200. It was supposedly a 56.2 last lap! the race analysis only gives the last 300 in 42.17 for Houlihan and 42.36 for Chebet.

That makes more sense. Entertaining meet, good coverage, looking forward to tomorrow

Thanks. I was obviously confused.
56.2? That is quick.
Am I the only one who finds this a surprising result?
Boring meet. Poor marks. Most of the world shutting down for season few weeks ago. Inly ones putting up any decent times are doped up Africans. No wonder viewership is so poor.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
