Admittedly, they were playing an amateur team in a friendly.

It's an entertaining video. Bolt is great at sprinting. He's a very good rec league soccer player but only because he is fast. Professional? Nah, not even close. He's trying to play on a team that is even lower in quality than the MLS.
I loved what the commentators said about the first opportunity in the video- “he just wasn’t quick enough”

Nice comment! Don't think they perceived their own irony at the time... but anyway, 9.58 for the 100 isn't the same as on-field "quickness" in a ball game. For instance lightning-reflex Julian Edelman would outlunge and outgrab Bolt over body-range distances for the football even if he's an ~11.0 100meter dude.
I doubt that Bolt did much soccer playing recently so he hasn't built up any of the technical aspects that he needs. If he wanted to actually have a chance he'd have taken much more time off to build speed endurance and more coordination with his feet
Yup, just using the eyeball test....looks like a rec-league player.....who has a bit of speed....a bit
Usain's attempt reminds me of Michael Jordan trying baseball.
MIchael's stats included, in his one year in AA ball:
AB 436 H 88 2B 17 3B 1 HR 3 RBI 51 BB 51 SO 114 BA .202 OBP .289 SLG .266 OPS .556
and StolenBases 30, CaughtStealing 18
And one last comparison, for what it's worth, Bolt is 32 and Michael was 31 when making the second sport attempt.
Michael came back to basketball pretty nicely, though.
That's easy - basketball is a skill sport, low athleticism is really needed (high for the average person maybe but not really that athletic maneuvers that you need to train for).
Gotta give him thumbs up for trying and having fun but... seriously though that was some pretty pathetic display of football skills... Sorry, not a chance, he'll pick up a pro contract based solely on his playing skills... Based on his marketing power, probably yes;)
