The closest those two came to leading was a second after the start. They faded soon after.
Parsons gapped the pack early, easily was leading at the halfway prime point, and led through 3/4.
Kudos to him for hanging in there and collecting the $1k prime prize too as he broke 4.
These races were different as they seemed very lily white, sort of the Caucasian road mile championships. The NYRR seemed to invite mostly US and GBR runners.
Notably missing were Africans, Houlihan all chasing bigger prizes elsewhere.
