Fine performance to back up her 2:36 1,000 meters in Birmingham. Obviously sharp from training with Houlie.
Would not be surprised at all if she breaks 4 next year. With a block of consistent training without injury she could be better the Coburn/Frerichs.
Solid run for someone who was injured for a chunk of outdoors.

In the 1500, I think she is already much better, but she isn't close to the technician Courtney/Emma are.
Can't see her running much faster than 9:10; Courtney/Emma are sub-9 easily inside next 2 years.
She hasn’t even been at altitude this summer, has she?
I think she’s a much better 1500m/miler, don’t know why she’s messing with the steeple except maybe she likes it.
She was in Mammoth Lakes for awhile but went home when her injury flared up.

maybe because a 4:03 1500m makes her around the 5th best current 1500m runner, and a 9:15 steeple puts her easily 3rd
you gotta make teams, and the steeple is her ticket to Tokyo

She is better than BMart and KGrace. SRow makes the team in the 5, if she returns to competition. I think she’s done in the 15.
Yeah so she for sure is the 3rd best in the steeple, but can she be world class in it? 15’s are very tactical in championship racing.

That’s a lot of assumptions for one post. I’d say she is certainly more likely to make the 2019 US team in the steeple than the 1500m, and that she is just as competitive on the world stage in the steeple as she would be in the 1500m.
Probably could make the 5000 team, considering it is up in the air behind Houlihan.
Give her a couple of more years to mature. But she might need to do what Simpson and McColgan did and move away from the steeple. She has tremendous potential.

When was the last time BMart ran a good race? Or didn’t stumble in a race? Colleen has beaten Grace head to head. Rowbury is old. This is not to disparage any of them; I like them all. I guess down the road we could see some great NCAA talent emerge, which is maybe the only aspect I ignored.
If we’re going to regularly start seeing 9:00 steeples or less, 9:15 or even 9:10 doesn’t cut it. I have no idea what Quigs best would be under ideal (injury-free) circumstances, but my gut says 9:07-9:08. Of course I wouldn’t mind if she proved me wrong. I just think she’s just so much better at the 15.

I agree with you about BMart and Grace. Internationally, one is a has-been, the other, a never-was.
As for Quigley, the real question is not whether she can break 4. The real question is whether she can break 4:03. Houlihan is the only American woman now under 30 who has gone under 4:03. Everyone else -- including Quigley -- is stuck at 4:03/4/5. As Simpson & Rowbury age out, some of those 4:03/4/5 women will make the Olympic and World Teams. But unless they get faster, they will not be competing for medals internationally.
For what it's worth, Quigley is a year older than Houlihan.

You'll never see Rowbury at that elite level again.
