Pretty amusing.
Pretty amusing.
Seems like it trys too hard. Played-out, tired, old stereotypes that my Asian friends didn't really find amusing.

But did YOU find it amusing? I did.
Meh. I’ve been to Singapore a bunch of times.
Ancient Chinese secret huh?

The script / book was average at best. Asian Americans aren't usually in the league of "crazy rich asians".
It's easy to spot these Asians, they usually pay full international tuition at four-year colleges or prestigious boarding high schools, like the type on the east coast which Ivanka Trump went to. Even then, international Asian students have different tiers of "rich". There are those whose families save up every single cent to send their kids to school in the usa (maybe 1-2 mil rich), there's the double digit millionaire rich families, and then there are the "crazy rich Asians" tier of rich, whose families are worth well over 100 million. Google "Arissa Cheo" (palm-oil heiress) or "Heart Evangelista" (sugarcane plantation heiress), these are the real-life "crazy rich asians".
I devoured the books in one month and while they aren’t the best writing I’ve read, they were certainly entertaining.
I thought the first half of the film was surprisingly very good; the second half felt like they were trying to fit everything in there and became super campy and sappy.
I went with a group of 8 people and I was the only one who thought it was okay; the rest said they ‘loooved it.’
I’d see it again tho, tbh.
thought it was great. Lot of hot Asian babes in it too. That actress playing the cousin is gorgeous.
Now the writer is being accused of dodging military service in Singapore. His parents moved to the USA when he was a kid. Is he really supposed to return for his conscription duties? The government wants to jail him. He doesn’t really seem like the military type to me...
Imagine if anyone made a movie "Crazy, Rich, Jews"?
All Hell would break loose.

There is no place called Jewsia.

Yeah, right?
How about crazy rich Gulf coast oil state Arab princes?
Or crazy rich WASP trust fund kiddies
Or meddling wealthy middle class Minnesota kids
Crazy rich Latin and South American dictators kids
Or crazy rich cartel kids
Crazy rich Africans!
Or...
crazy rich Indians who actually give money to holy causes...
(Haters, suck it!)
Chinese people are not admirable because they sell mountains of cheap plastic crap to America. They also need to learn to use condoms. 1.4 billion people
I found myself more knowledgeable after the movie but also content. The cast was AMAZING. Awkwafina's character makes you laugh so hard combined with the rest of the cast. This movie is beautiful and funny and just so much more than I expected. I'm not the best writer but trust me, it's worth the watch.

There would be no uproar over any of those movies.
Only if a movie called crazy, rich Jews were made -- in which case all Hell would break loose and screams of anti-semitism would echo throughout the media.
Those who are so great they must not be mentioned. Their name never uttered.
I thought it had it's amusing parts and the beginning is pretty good, but was a movie everyone had already seen before. The males in the cast, apart from Ken Jeong and whoever his son was, were all pretty bad. When they get to the part where they just jump between the stories of the leads while on separate bachelor parties, it is super choppy. The mahjong scene is ridiculous (but I admit I have no idea if it would have been better if I knew anything about mahjong).
I would have been extremely happy to watch it on a flight. Happy enough to have seen it in a theater, but no one needs to.
also, no one would care that a movie was called Crazy Rich Jews if it were made by Jewish people based on a book by a Jewish guy and starred an all-Jewish cast.

Commas change the meaning of things son.
I haven't seen it, but the fact that the cast is almost entirely asian seems extremely racist against white people in the name of "diversity." Just imagine how outraged people would be if the SJWs in Hollywood made a movie that cast almost all white people.
