I’ve been having pain along the arch on the side of my foot for a while now. It has looked slightly swollen for over a year but only started hurting 7 months ago.
It’s the muscle that is activated when you move your big toe out away from your other toes.
It seems to get worse with speed work, but is occasionally aggravated after normal runs. I will also occasionally have pains on the top of my foot, but nothing hurts to touch, and these top-of-foot pains are pretty diffuse.
I’ve taken a couple weeks off and it was no help for swelling and pain. I’ve also run multiple 60+ mile weeks at an easy pace with no additional problems, but the pain is annoying and worrisome.
I’ve went to a podiatrist who was an avid runner and all he said was that I probate slightly and need a shoe with a harder heel and more stability/orthotics.
I’ve switched to shoes with some stability and have seen little in the way of progress.
Thinking about going to the doctors soon but I’d rather avoid paying for an MRI and I’m not sure he’d tell me anything different.
I feel like I’ve tried everything.
