I noticed Murphy had a bad finish too. Anyone know if anything was/is bothering him or just a poor showing?
Nothing was bothering him. If he wasn't feeling good, no way does he go out that fast.
As for Jager. Kipruto said after the race he was taking it easy. The problem for Jager is that while Kipruto hasn't broken 8:00 either, he's probably more worried about winning as his endorsement contract isn't as big as Jager's so the 40 or 50k that comes with the DL win is a big deal for him.
Kipruto after the race, "I felt good and I'm excited that I won. Because it was me and Kigen today I knew it was not going to be that tough a race and I could relax. I was comfortable with it and knew I would have to take it out myself.
"I came here to win but I know in Zurich it will be a tough race because the field will be full. Everyone wants to be the Diamond League winner and I will have time to focus on that. Winning in Zurich would be great, then I head out to the Continental Cup."
I noticed Lauir Muir said it was windy. What direction was the wind coming? In a 1k, if they are willing to start on either turn,t he wind could end up helping you.
