Who are the top returning teams this year in class 3A? Any new teams potentially in the mix? How will the state meet look?

Mathias Powell from M-S for the win.
Mahomet Seymour is not 3A you moran
Tom Brady - Maine South
Zach Kinne - Neuqua Valley
Josh Methner - Hersey
Illinois is a top - 5 prep running state. The performances at the national events over the last decade + speak for themselves.
Also, the state track meet is 3 classes, not 5.
It makes perfect sense to have one division. Clay City's 57 students versus New Trier's 3,900 sounds like a great match up!
Kinne transferred to a different state

Kinne transferred to a school within the suburbs of Pittsburgh.
Wheaton Warrenville South boys will win both the state meet and NXR this year. They are returning all of their 1-4 and are only losing one of their top 7. They got 3rd at the state meet and 5th at NXR last year.
The Detweiler course is a sham. Times are meaningless. Why not just lay a tartan track on it?
i would say illinois is better than top 5, probably would put it 2nd behind obviously california, and thats just because cali has so many more people

You must be from Wisconsin. Why can't you admit and accept that the FIBs are better than you cheeseheads?

Actually, Detweiler is one of the ONLY courses on which times are actually meaningful. It is well-maintained and well-measured to the point that comparisons across meets and years are actually reliable.
If you want to watch runners try to weave through an obstacle course, go watch a warrior race or tough-mudder or something.
The course isn’t fun and it is silly. Guys run 14:30 there and then run 9:30 on the track.
I’ve seen guys running sub 15 on this cheater’s course then can’t break 4:35 in the 1600.
Jacobs ran 13:54 last year. He went on to run 15:19 at Footlocker and 15:30 at Nike. His 3 mile would convert to no worse than 14:30 which is a minute faster than Nike. Based on his track times, I doubt that he would have run faster than 14:30 5k on the track.
Times don't matter in XC anyway, so who the hell cares how long/short it is?
Every Illinois prep who breaks 15 minutes.

Ah, I didn't see that. He is an absolute monster. I'm not sure of the quality of PA XC this year but he's going to be a serious contender.

In AAA, it’s not quite as good as last year. He joined the top returners team and he’s won every race somewhat handily. He’s the clear favorite for states at the moment. His team, however, will be in a serious battle.
