Recently my legs have been burning very bad during runs - to the point I’m not able to get my mileage in. It’s my first year running cross country (I’m a junior) as I trained with a different coach and did sprint training for the 400/800 (freshman year I still ran a 2:16 800m) . I had 4 weeks at 35 miles with a 8 mile long run, but last week was 30 with 6 and I felt terrible. My legs felt on fire, especially my hips and thighs. I started doing my hip strengthening again to help my hips since they get weak from time to time. Saturday I felt fine for some reason, but today I got through 3 miles out of 5 (7:21 pace) and had to stop it was so bad. What can I do?! I’m eating enough and getting enough sleep atm, and ice some days (we take ice baths once/twice a week). I’m worried my season is going to be ruined before I even race.
