Heard word that Ryan Walling is no longer going to be coaching there and told the runners today. Who do you think would be potentially be on the radar for wku?

So sad that a program with a proud distance history is now at a point that it has gone through two distance assistants within the space of 1 year. Guess when you change a distance school into a sprint/ throws program you will never be able to hang onto any half decent coaches because they have nothing to work with.
Long live the memories of Nick Rose, Tony Staynings, Ashley Johnson, Victor Ngubeni, Sean Dollman and all the other great mid - d and distance guys from years past.
Yes, WKU used to be a very good place for runners from the UK to attend. It's sad to see the distance program operating at just a fraction of what it once was.

Looks like it’s on the way back up with the new distance coach. I’ve had lunch with him, great young man! Bringing in some top notch talent next fall!
Still remember the days of Nick Rose and that entire bunch, boy were they something. I came on a few years after and was just in awe everyday to be apart of the team!

Nearby Murray State had a very good Men's program as well. Then when Bill Cornell resigned and went two hours up the road to Southern Illinois that program became very good as well. Sadly both programs have slid into just average programs. Murray State lost their Men's track program years ago.

Bill was a great coach and really got the most out of the kids he had. Seems like all of his athletes loved him. Sad day when he left the program and then losing the Men’s program was the final blow. Coach Lecompte seems to be bringing excitement back to the WKU distance program and as a former runner on the team many moons ago, I can’t help but be ecstatic about it!

Am I right in saying a lot of Irish ran there also?
Not sure about Irish, but there were a number of South Africans at WKU.

The Irish went to ETSU.
