I want to walk on to a lower D1 school either spring semester or next fall (start of my sophomore year). What do I need to do to make this happen?
I haven’t raced since track season of my junior year of high school. Didn’t run my senior year of cross or track (bad decision). I was pretty good in high school but nothing amazing. I ran at state but never placed. I ran 25-40 mpw all throughout my senior year. Didn’t run much this summer. Would it be better for me to build up a huge aerobic base and run tons of miles or should I keep my mileage similar to high school and try to run some fast times to send to the coach? I already know which school I want to attend and my high school times were faster than many of their athletes. Will the coach want to see some more recent times to prove that I’m fast enough? Also when should I contact the coach?
