Why do we typically think of training, mileage, etc in weekly figures?
Would it not be more beneficial to think of a 8 day cycle? 9 day cycle? etc. Everyone talks of 1 day off per week, would taking 1 day every 8 days of a noticeable affect?

Perhaps you should 'think' of it in terms of what did you do previously, and what do you want to to accomplish in the succeeding days.
Some people do like Canova and Kenny Moore was one of the first runners to use a 9/10 day schedule. The main reasons why most of us use a seven day schedule is due to life/convince.
Hansons have been on a 9 day schedule for 20 years.

When my job goes on a 9 day cycle I'll start training on one. Until then it is what it is.
