The only guy ever to win two Heismans is an Ohio State grad. He should be more famous.
Nicklaus
Definitely Nicklaus, even if I prefer Owens

If it wasn't for the most famous alumni, that would have never happened after a couple freshman fumbles.

I called 100 people. 92 had never heard of either, 4 had heard of both, and 2 had heard of Owens and 2 Nicklaus. So it is dead even.
Baloney, everyone knows those 2

Yeah, but he sucked. Got to the pros and proved he couldn't play.
Do your poll in the office tomorrow. Nobody under 35 will be aware of either of them. Then you will get into the 40 year olds who think Nicklaus is an actor and Owens probably played in the NFL during the 70s, Maybe even that he is OJ instead of JO.
50 years from now Owens will still have more prevalence then Jack

Urban Meyer is infamous at the moment for telling an assistant, "I'd hit that"
TATE MARTELL
Art Schlister
I gotta at least mention John Havlicek and Jerry Lucas
Jack because more people are alive that have seen him play either in person or on TV. Unfortunately there was no television back in Jesse's day and the media was very small back then. Those that did see Jesse run have most likely died since this was some 80 years ago.

I asked 12 friends 7 Follow Track, none are Golfers all 12 heard of both, 5 were under 35, Jesse Owens and his symbolic significance is taught in Elementary Schools, every American knows him, kind of Like Everyone knows Jim Thorpe, Wilt Chamberlain, Johnny Unitas, Muhammad Ali, A person known to EVERYONE who is NOT American is PELE though Most don't know his real name is Edson Arantes Do Nascimento
