After the elite field was announced, why did no on start a thread on this yet?
Over/under Greek record (2:33:40)?
Over/under American record (2:19:36)?
What page does the NYT give the incredible story of her road to her marathon debut?

Way over.
Way over.
A prominent one.
wait, she's going to run a FULL marathon?!
someone call netflix, get the doc mobilized team and to Chicago NOW!!
so imensely brave!
Who do you think we could get to play her ego....Meryl Streep? Merl Hagaard?
and can we get Marketing going on some little do-dads to sell to her Bravies?
I don't care what, i dunno, maybe autographed yo-yos for $99 each with little mirrors on the side or maybe something written Greek? How do you say Chicago Brave! in Greek? Will that fit on a freakin' yo-yo?
2:30:05 if she does it seriously, and it isn't part of a new movie by her boyfriend/fiance/husband. If she and Jordan remain tight, JH can give her pointers.
It's been two years since her last competitive race, so about time.
But I think she will go for the world record for running a marathon in a tiara and tutu.
She's one annoying little tweet.
Two years? She didn't race at all in 2017?

Alexi Pappas is an absolute animal. She's almost broken 32 minutes for a 10K which is very rare among elite women. She would crush you like a grape in any distance event. I'd say she is likely going to break 2:32 and may dip under 2:30 if she really hits it out of the park. She is so inspiring, gives of herself to others and she is down to earth, I don't understand how any of you could root against her. Gooo Alexi! Booo Letsrun.
Her performance will be stunning and brave.
I prefer runners who don't say one of the reasons they are running is to inspire others. This is current day cover for "look at me, look at me" which is just another form of modern narcissism run amok. Just run because you love to run...no need to glorify yourself with an overabundance of phony bravery.
Examples of real bravery include a small child enduring and suffering through chemotherapy in their battle against cancer or an elderly person battling the progressive loss of themselves due to Alzheimer's disease.
M.A.G.A...
I think she'll do 2:35.
American record is irrelevant. She's purely Greek.
What's the Influencer Record for marathon?

This is a very immature and spiteful reason to not like someone. The people on this website truly suck sometimes, especially you.

Take your phony "maturity" and shove it, honestly. You're no better. He is spot on that the "wanting to inspire others" act is total rubbish.
For real, though, based on recent results I would be surprised if she gets the Trials A standard. Which doesn't matter becauae she runs for Greece.

She'd do better off running for a charity or volunteering her time in a soup kitchen or working with troubled youths if she wants to inspire people. Running is an incredibly selfish endeavor.
In answer to one of the OP's original questions, Pappas' debut in Chicago isn't going to get any coverage in the NY Times at all. It's not like they give the Chicago Marathon a ton of coverage in any case.
Forget about the Greek record, she hasn't raced in two years. That means either she's been injured or (more likely) doesn't care much about running anymore... neither bodes well for a fast time
Exactly. She's running's Kardashian. Her race will be closer to Kevin Hart's marathon performances than to Deena's, it's now about celebrity appearance and not about maximizing talent or quality racing.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
