I've got a 10k + 5k race combo that's coming up in a few weeks on a Saturday. I'm just starting a Pfitzinger half marathon training plan that calls for a harder progression long run on that day, so I thought the races would serve as a decent substitute effort-wise. If the plan is to train through these races but still hope for a respectable time, would having a LT workout & midweek semi-long run earlier in the week be too much? The week would be something like what's below. 45-50 mpw for the last 5 weeks or so. If it's too much, what would you propose?
Mon - 9 miles easy
Tue - LT, 9 miles total, 18 min LT, 4 min jog, 12 min LT
Wed - 11 miles
Thur - 3 miles recovery
Fri - 8 miles easy + strides
Sat - 10k/5k
