Last weekend, I ran a half-marathon in 1:24:44. It was quite humid and I definitely made a few mistakes but I also felt I could run a much faster time given the chance. My pace was too fast at certain points and I could have easily stuck to a moderate pace, but I wanted to get under sub 84 or 83 going into this. This was see what kind of fitness I was in, as a result of my training for Chicago in October. I also didn't taper mileage, I ran a 100 mile week. Over the last 12 weeks, my mileage has been at 61, 60, 73, 71, 59, 78, 80, 84, 72, 73, 102, and 100. I'm running another half in one month which may be a better indicator. I run my easy days between 8:00/mile and 9:00/mile. Allows me to get the higher mileage in with ease and put my effort into the quality sessions/hard efforts. Given the above, would you say sub-3 is attainable? If it helps, I am 5'8, 147 pounds. I am pretty much leaned out and can't lose much more weight. I was blessed with muscle that is stubborn and won't go away, no matter how much I run.
Also, is there anything wrong with continuing to hit 100 mpw, or should I lower this down?
