Pure speculation, but Oregon is changing coaches. It is possible they are following the exiting coach. Is there some exception that allows them to do that without sitting out a year?

The same exception Oregon uses when they get their half dozen top-flight transfers every year that don't end up sitting out.
How many schools will Pendergast attend before she graduates?

Your speculation is now fact, they are at UW.

I can’t divulge my source yet, but I promise you that it’s true.
Rainsberger talked to CU, but the money was better at UW and she wanted to follow the Powell’s.

As far as I know with a release you can go anywhere without sitting out unless it’s in conference. So UO to UW would mean they sit out. Unless the rule changed.
Did the Cal dude who transferred to UCLA sit out a year? I don’t think so. So that’s the answer.
Unless the rule changed in the last year you can be released to anyone and compete immediately. Rai Benjamin was released by UCLA and went to USC and competed the next year. Also, I think Brandt competed immediately when he transferred from Cal to UCLA but I am not positive about that one.

That is not the answer.
It all depends on who the coaches decide to release an athlete to. I wouldn't be surprised if they block interconference transfers and that's why Brody had to go to NAU over UW.
Except Chris Hansen is reporting that Mick Stanovsek has transferred to UW

Gehrich went from Utah to UO and didn't sit out.

Perhaps there is a clause that addresses a coaching change?

If the school gives you a release, most conferences will grant the one-time-transfer exception waiver, even if its in conference. If the school doesnt release you, thats when you sit (at least for track/xc)
Ouch.
Probably says alot about the generic all-white backfills.
Not inspiring.
The loss of Hoey is big-time. He is a tremendous prospect. He had the ability to run sub 4, as well as the 1:47/2:23? he ran.
Stanovsek is obviously already a mid 3:50s runner. Will the new coach fill the gaps by recruiting foreigners again? Why did all this occur? The Powells wanted to head the program or they were unhappy? Were the athletes unhappy at Oregon or so fixated on these two coaches? This is a ton of turnover.
You've got to wonder how all the kids on Washington's roster are feeling about this large influx of duck transfers.
It might be an issue on the women’s team where they traditionally have some talent, but the men’s team is pretty bare of PAC-12 level talent due to poor recruiting and people graduating and transferring the last two years.
Definitely seems that the Oregon distance program is in some turmoil right now.

Who do they still have left? I feel like UW has destroyed the careers of several top athletes.
What are the Frazier sisters up to these days? (Not even sure they have eligibility left.)
