I never broke 60 but I ran a 9:24. I had big dreams at the time so I was disappointed with my 9:24, but looking back, it seems like quite an acheivment for someone with such slow leg speed.
Did any of you with 60-fleet speed top my time.

I doubt you will find anyone faster. Normally, 60 seconds would put you around 10 minutes.
57s 400 PR, 9:18 3200 in HS
You lose. 3 seconds faster for 400 is 24 for 3200.
I once closed a 2 mile in 58 seconds to run a 10 :40. The beauty of the dual meet!!
61/9:32
I went 9:05, 53.1, 24.5 and tj of 43'7". Always had good explosiveness. Sucked at anything past 2 miles.
60.0 / 10:05
Seth Hirsch supposedly only had 59 second 400m speed and ran 8:54
He and Gessner made that joke. Herschel ran 2:03 and 4:14 in HS. You can’t do those without running 56.

9:49. I was probably worth a 9:40 though in all honesty. If you asked me if I'd rather run 60 and 9:24 over 51/9:49 I'd without question pick the 9:24
An old timer that had run for Bob Larsen at Grossmont College told me his h.s. prs were something like 60/2:05/9:05. He did say that he couldn't have run any faster if his life depended on it.
I doubt the accuracy of all these 60 plus 400m claims. If the last time one was asked to race a 400m relay leg was 8th grade, and you guys raced 3200m in 11th or 12th grade in 9:20+ then these claims are partially honest. If I recall in most high school meets, the last three events are: 200m, 3200m then 4x400m. Once a track & field coach makes a runner a 3200m specialist there is no long an opportunity to realize one's 400m potential.
Alberto Salazar 400m pr is only 57 seconds.

True enough. This comes up every so often and people say he coulda run faster. If you ever watched him try to outsprint someone it was clear that 57 was about all out for him, though.

I've also heard that about Salazar, but find it hard to believe. He ran the equivalent of 4:00 which would mean he slowed down by 3 seconds per lap. I was a strength runner, but slowed down by 7 seconds per lap.
High school bests:
400m 58.0 (relay split)
800m 2:01 (relay split)
1600m 4:19.1
3200m 9:14.9

My son is 63/9:39 with another year to go, so I give him a decent shot to join you. He also ran a 4:37, so while he can't run one lap in 62, he can run four in 69. I don't know his 800 time, but it's probably north of 2:06.
I never broke 60 in high school, but ran a 4:38 mile off of like 30 MPW, so we have a strong slow-twich gene. I also ran all-out back to back miles within 30 minutes of each other, and ran faster in the second one. As an adult, I've run crazy negative split races despite having a lot of racing experience and feeling like I know what paces I should be running early on.
If his 400 is really 63, then I think the "north of 2:06" is a pretty safe guess.
I bet the R^2 of 3200m times predicted by 400 times is very low. Responses so far seem to affirm that.
