confirmed in an email to the team today. Will be starting a Reebok elite team. Looks like the rumors were true. Knight to join?

I was wondering why Knight was so silent and absent this summer (other than his presence at Canadian Nationals).
Is Bennie also going to join?
I feel bad for Tooker and Affolder. Is that the end for Syracuse? Will they go back to where they were 7 years ago?
Can you forward me the email?
I see no downside in Reebok starting another elite training group. Sounds great.
Training groups are good for the sport.
Reebok is bad for the sport.
This sounds like a great opportunity to start something new! Nothing but upside as the underdog, just like when fox went to Syracuse. Why hate on a company finally making solid shoes and investing in the sport? They did it back in the 80’s and 90’s so no reason they can’t climb the ladder again. And should be fun to see how it plays out knowing other Boston teams aren’t slaying the beast out in Oregon.
People have been saying this move would happen for months.
Fox deciding to leave for a pro team is not surprising. Wonder how long this had been known. Reebok deciding it cares about running after going for fitness market is strange especially since adidas owns reebok and is already in running.
Good to. have another pro group.
Because I remember the Reebok Enclave and how sh1tty that ended. BECAUSE OF REEBOK. They are a horrible partner.

I think adidas is trying to expand the profile and reputation of Reebok with the recent push into serious running. Because prior to some their recent shoes, I thought of Reebok as a joke.
I'm assuming this means Tooker is finally transferring to Colgate. It's about time, Aidan. Central New York's finest university has been waiting for you.
This move reminds me of New Balance/Coogan marriage.
New Balance wanted a presence in Boston and took a very good coach with a star athlete and brought them in together to build a training group.
Reebok wants a presence in Boston and is hiring a very good coach with a star athlete and brought them in together to build a training group.
Problems
1. Nearly all other athletes will know who the #1 athlete is and it is hard to view themselves as equals.
2. Boston is not great for training.
3. College is completely different from Pro running
4. Boston is a marathon town and all of these groups focus on track runners.
Chris did an absolutely phenomenal job at ‘Cuse.
And he will certainly at Reebok.
And he still may be lapping me at the Penn Relays 10 when he went 27:50....
(At least he is in my nightmares)
But,
Brien Bell is a great recruiter.
Maybe he will get the gig.
Maybe I will call him and ask for the assistant job.
I sent a few of my hs athletes to these guys and all they did was make them ncaa qualifiers....
Would be interesting to see if Marty Herhir eventually rejoins with his College Coach once he is done with med-school and the group is established. Remember he is sponsored by Reebok. Chris could have Herhir and potentially Knight, that would be a pretty decent set up.
Tooker will be wearing duck green and yellow this fall. That was worked out at Nationals if (when) Fox left. Only issue is getting waiver right now.

He won't be coaching in Boston.

Correct.
And New Balance Boston will also has a vacancy for their primary athlete.
The earliest Marty will be finished with med school is 7 yrs from now and that’s with a specialty of 4 yrs which is average. Maybe Fox will coach him long distance since Marty is a Reebok athlete. There are 30 angry orange men and women tonight.
Plus Kemoy!
bleu, didn't realize that was the timeline for medical school, I would figure they would get back together for some sort of coaching arrangement, probably remotely.
We were recruiting an athlete SU signed and we had heard rumors of this potential move to the pro ranks. We didn't negative recruit as our selling points were much different than Cuse and we thought we could get her even though we weren't offering a full ride. She's a good runner and may develop but isn't a top prospect.
I doubt any kids will ask out of their NLI but where you may see some transfers is next spring.
