Sophomore in HS. I usually do a 5 mile tempo @6:15 pace, but I instead did 10 miles @6:30 pace because I felt good. Felt like a much better workout and my fitness has increased greatly. I did about 35 mpw avg all last year from Jan to December. Ran 40 mpw Jan- March and 30 mpw in April. Since May 1st, I have ran an average of about 55 mpw and I have gotten so much more fitness. My PRs are:
800 - 2:09
1600 - 4:45
When I ran these PRs I could only muster 3-4 miles @6:15 pace before it felt like a race, or 5 miles @6:30 pace.
Should I continue to run 10 mile tempos? I do not feel like I am racing them and 6:15 was a bit too easy. Im currently doing 60 mpw with a 13 mile long run. I have been doing this for about 2 months now with every 3rd or 4th week only doing 45-50 miles.
