Boston Marathon should switch each the start each year. I.e. one year will be up the next will be downhill.
Thoughts?

Have you been to Hopkinton? This is a no-brainer.
I thought you were going to mention the way they handle medals/awards... Gold for top percentage, Silver, etc.
Comrades is over twice the distance, more climbing, and hotter. Can you imagine how much people would complain? Holy hell.

I thought you were going to mention having a strict cutoff where a quarter of the field does not finish.

I thought you were going to mention moving it to South Africa

Another excellent idea, Boston should have Fukuoka standards:
Group A
Marathon: under 2 hours 27 minutes
30 km road race: under 1 hour 35 minutes
Half-marathon: under 1 hour 05 minutes
Group B
Marathon: under 2 hours 35 minutes
30 km road race: under 1 hour 45 minutes
Half-marathon: under 1 hour 10 minutes

I thought you were going to mention lengthening beyond the standard marathon lite distance.

This was my first thought that finishing in Hopkinton would be a disaster.
A better suggestion for the OP: start your own marathon and reverse it every other year.

Jamin would love this idea. Maybe he'll finally find his Ukrainian wife.

I thought you were going to mention busting many of the top runners for using drugs.
Not a bad ideal. Maybe instead keep it the same in April and then in the fall do it in reverse. Compare your times.
I always thought Broad Street 10 mile should do a reverse in the fall. Course is a slight down hill for 10 Miles. Would love to see the difference in times.
That idea has long intrigued me. Not really feasible, but I think it would be cool to do every 5th year or so. Or maybe during years where the normal direction will have a brutal headwind.
They should just cancel it so no one has to hear about this stupid race ever again.

says someone too slow to qualify
This is a fun idea, but I doubt people will want to finish in Hopkington as opposed to downtown Boston. Simply not the same appeal. I hear that getting into Boston and experiencing the crowds is one of the best parts of the marathon.

I thought you were going to mention giving runners green numbers after ten Boston finishes.

Hmm, where's the history in reversing ? No....Comrades comrades. Boston is Boston.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
