Currently I am trying to increase my mileage up to around 50 mpw and I want to maintain that for the remainder of the summer if not increase even more. The only problem is that at xc summer practice, we aren’t doing long enough runs for me to reach that. I would continue further and do longer runs by myself when my teammates turn around and head back to our school, but I don’t want to seem arrogant and cocky, because I’m not even the fastest runner on our team. It’s really annoying because now I’m forced to do doubles a couple times a week to even come close to that mileage when I know I could do it all in singles.
Will I still reap the same benefits of running the 50 mpw even if I’m forced to double a few times a week? What should I do?
