How do folks alter their training during the summer for a fall marathon?
If I'm targeting 2:59 in ideal conditions this fall but am routinely running in 85+ temps with dew points in the 65-72 range how much slower should I be training now?
I'm basing this off of a Daniels' school of thought that in ideal conditions right now I'd probably be in the 7:00-7:05 pace for a marathon with the plan of increasing the fitness to 6:50 come race day. Do I struggle on the hot/humid days to hold 7:00-7:05 or do I back off? If so how much do I back off?
Bring on fall!
