Going to use this thread to seek advice and log progress towards becoming a champion.
Right now though I am a chump. About to turn 19. PR: 9:55 3200 in May 2017 off 30-35 mpw maybe minimal base. Have not ran consistently in the past year. I regret not working hard in high school. I'm going to train like an animal going forward.
My approach to improvement is mega miles. I'm going to build up to 120 now.
Past 8 weeks: 15.4, 24.8, 39.2, 32.9, 34.3, 60, 65.6, 48.4 (so far this week, aiming for 70-75 range). Most runs have been done at around 7:00 pace. Some 4 mile runs in the 5:50 - 6:20 range. Nothing crazy fast.
My idea is to continue ramping up 5 or so miles each week and get to 100 within the next 8 weeks. I'm doubling 6 days a week to reduce injury risk. Thinking about running a 5k in 6 weeks as a workout/to assess progress.
I'll post training logs at the end of each week.
If anyone has suggestions I will do what is suggested and report back.
