No word on whether it would be possible to come back to win after getting lapped.

Marathon on the track!
An Indoor Boston Qualifier has already been done at Zoom Yah Yah.
After Randy Peterson qualified for Boston, the BAA added the Peterson rule forbidding indoor marathon qualifiers.
$5,000 seems expensive, but at least some of it goes to help the homeless.
I think it is possible to come back for the win after getting lapped. With the “Friday night lights” experience, I could see someone going out too fast and getting a lap ahead of of a the eventual winner who runs a negative split.
If that field is crowned at all, taking the turns will be awful. If they construct some kind of banked track, it could be a great place to run a fast time...
...I guess.

Somebody should set up a GoFundMe page to sponsor someone from this board who will voluntarily allow themselves to get lapped and then come back to win.
Fenway did one because anything to make a buck. MacGillivray is all too eager to make an extra $50K or whatever percentage he gets for this. Now the pats are on board too. Doing the same thing. Apparently this is the new trend. How long until the TD Garden wants to host one that goes around the perimeter of the 100 section.
I don’t get what would inspire people to want to run around a stadium for a few hours. I guess just to brag to people that they did it?
I should host one around my house. 1000 Laps and you’re there

This is kind of my mentality, as well. Like it looks good for Davey Mac that "he" raised $500k for charity (when in actuality he is taking a chunk, the ex players are getting a chunk, etc, Gillette stadium is taking a chunk, etc). The runners get to "brag" they did a marathon inside an NFL stadium. I guess if you have the money or are good at asking people for money, then go for it, as it doesn't affect my life at all.
Positives are that you can have your family cheer you on every 1 minute and you have access to water (and presumably food) every 1 minute as well.

What's your address?
What will be at the aid stations? I wanna start preparing my stomach now...
TheJeff, you need to be asking the important questions
1. Will I get a medal when I finish?
2. Will I get a tech shirt?
3. Is it a net downhill?
Well. I live in Belmont. And no aid station per se. but I can leave the sprinkler on for you.

Wow... some folks have said some mean spirited things to me on here... but that just HURT :,(
However, I did get a chuckle of trying to picture how a 100+ lap race could be a net downhill... maybe a course like a giant screw into the earth's crust that finishes at the magma. I think the heat would nullify any advantage the downhill would give you...

Ha! Glad you enjoyed the "net downhill" part. I was having a good laugh as I thought of the ridiculousness of putting that down. I'd bet there was at least person (other than you) that did a double take.

I think Gillette Stadium is outdoors though.

The horse racing track???
Tempting. I will have my people call your people.
Wait a minute, you're telling me you are now hosting a marathon on a horse racing track?!!? Sign me up...as long as it's for charity and AT LEAST $5,000!!!
What about a marathon around a basketball court? Is that next?
I wanna run a marathon around the Brickyard.

I've heard that on some 10 and 12 lane tracks the banking is so high that the runner in the outer lane could run a net down hill 800 meters because the banked height is more than .5 meters above the lane 1 finish line.
Not sure how to do it for 100 laps.
But you could make it wind assisted by putting fans along the circuit.

Where were you when you heard this conversation about a 10 and an 12 lane banked track?
