I like to think that her training has drastically improved with the BTC compared to what she was getting at the ASU. And those sprinter thighs really help her power it home in the last 100m. Seriously, those thighs are not skinny distance runner thighs, those are some serious thighs.

Every single drug cheat has said the same thing before they got caught.
"oh my training suddenly improved."
I don't know if she's dirty or not (I don't like her for other reasons so I'm inclined to think that while she may not be crossing a line, she is definitely pushing it.) A company like Nike and the BTC is usually savvy enough to take every legal advantage.
However, this whole dumb notion that we can't even questions her flies in the face of logic. Track and field created this problem. I realize that Shelby didn't create it individually, but she is part of the sport. She's a big girl and I doubt she cares what people think on a message board. But anyone, and I mean anyone, who has followed the sport for any length of time has been burned time and time again by the lies, the excuses, the cover-ups and denials.
No we aren't all jealous boys living in our parent's basements. We are realists with what we are seeing. There are some red flags with Shelby. I would like the sport to be better, but it hasn't taken the steps it needs to. until then there will always be questions. Get over it.

Lance Armstrong busted. Many Kenyans not.

I was thinking about making this thread earlier. Not only is she more fit, but she's more muscular (less doughey) and her face looks more cave man-ish (sunken in). Either her recent training has had drastic effects on her body or something else is going on.
One need look no further than Laura Muir to see that hollow cheeks and low body fat are not necessary conditions for 1500m success.
I always wondered if Muir was on some kind of medication to make her cheeks puff out like that; it seems unnatural for an elite runner to have such puffy cheeks and thin body.

that people should be allowed to be stupid.
Which is fine. I don't disagree with that. But don't try to spread your stupidity to others.
I don't have a view on whether she is or not, I just think it's worth looking at the race.
cheers.

I said this earlier but I'll say it again.
Shelby is clearly the most athletic runner in this race. If you look at her body structure and movement you will notice she is wayyy more athletic than Hassan, Caster, even Muir.
Dibaba may be more slightly more efficient than Shelby but Shelby is a well-rounded athlete. A lot of the African runners are just freaks of nature.
not sure if this means anything but Shelby's splits were roughly 47 for 300 then two 64s, then a 62. pretty much ideal other than having too much left in the last 100.
probably capable of 3:55ish right now.
We "know" that Hassan is dirty (she's coached by Salazar). And from these message boards we "know" Muir is dirty. And we might as well add that we "know" Dibaba is dirty (was training with Aden in Spain). Semenya would be dirty if the same standard applied to her as to other females. So I really don't care if Houlihan is dirty, unless she fails a test.

It's hard to keep up but I think the only rule is that ATTRACTIVE US WOMEN are clean (and 100% female as verified by LR posters) and everyone else is on the sauce. Preferable they race in ultra skimpy gear and have firm cute butts.

Is there a version of this with English commentary?

I think it's worth noting that not only did she display a crushing kick on this esteemed field, but even more so, she displayed superior race tactics.
She was tempering her pace more than the others, coming through 2-1.5 seconds slower than others through 300 and then comfortably stayed a second behind lead group and just off Muir, who also seemed to be trying to relax now slightly off pace. Muir though, went out through 300 and 700 faster than Houlihan. At 600 to go, Muir and Houlihan move into tighter position then at the bell six racers were within a second of each other. Houlihan got boxed right at 400 but didn't panic or make an unnecessary power move, just stayed tight to group. On back stretch she stayed in Muir's wake as they passed Caster with 200 to go. At that point, Houlihan seemed to benefit from going slower early and came off the turn accelerating. She seemed to match Muir for about 20 meters before hitting another gear and blowing away everyone in the last 30, still accelerating.
Awesome race.
I think that it is important to note that although she was behind them, she wasn't going any slower. The entire race she just stayed a couple meters behind but never let the gap increase which means she was not going any slower than they were. Of course she didn't get the American record but that still had to do with the slightly more tactical pace. She looked relaxed and calm after winning when Muir was dying. I think it is slightly strange that an athlete that was never a top elite suddenly races double wins usatf wins pre and now this meet.

How about the fact that Shelby's TRAINING PARTNERS have vastly improved with BTC. Hell, who did she have to train with at ASU?
She was not considered a lock to make RIo team, but she did. Also, she ran sub 2:01 summer after her junior year at ASU.
Nope on the Dope she was and is FAST and has developed ENDURANCE so there ya go.

Why was a dude running in the women's race?

thanks for your future compliance
Who is the most suspicious American runner of the last 10 years? The guy that went from something like 13:20 5k PR to multiple 12:55 and a 26:59 10k in one year, then disappeared. What group was he part of?
No proof of course, same with Shelby. Fact is, in this day and age, if you're a professional athlete and you're competitive with the rest of the world, then you are automatically suspicious.
Any big jump in your mid 20s or later has to be called into question. Mo Farah anyone?

I often play these for friends with the sound off, and do the commentaries myself.
