Darn near a true statement ! 2 weeks ago I had a mini van to deliver at someone's farm 21 miles away but had no ride back because I could only deliver it at 2AM - I could have Ubered back but decided instead to throw the mountain bike in the van and cycle back. Going back I had the luck of a very strong direct tailwind and even though it's Texas it's still 90 F at 3 AM. With minimum effort I was able to ride at a decent clip and only needed 1/2 quart of water. I finished the ride and felt like I had not done any exercise, granted had I been going the opposite direction it would have been a different story - but the point is in my experience, you got to ride a long long long ways to get any real benefit. I think the banana guy on you tube rides 80 miles a day and he seems very fit. But that's a whole lot of riding ! Heck that's a whole lot of driving!
