I think you misunderstand the difference between opinion and observation. Very distinct difference. I have given my observations, however you have assumed my opinion. It's funny how that works. A little reading comprehension goes a long way.
I'll summarise for you:
Poster before says that Muir broke some rules; she certainly did not. That's an observable fact.
UKA probably broke their own rules, that's an observed assumption based upon the claims of the accusers.
UKA clearly didn't communicate with the athletes in the event, that's and observed fact backed up by my own personal experiences.
UKA probably entered Muir to make her selection seem more legit, that's an assumption based upon my understanding of how UKA works.
Muir certainly would have been picked if she didn't run in the champs because the selection process in the UK is not solely dependent on the National champs like it is in the USA. That's an observation.
I have not said whether I agree or disagree with any of those statements. They are all likely true, but why do you think that I think they are right?
For the record if Muir didn't enter on time she shouldn't have run the champs and I think the UK should make the national champs compulsory as it would help the numbers in the crowds.
P.S. It's coming home.

As a British fan I'm very pleased Muir was entered in the 800 because the 15/5k double isn't possible in Berlin but the 800/1500 is. Muir has a very good chance of winning both. Sharp has a very good chance of not making the final in one. Yate's athlete Walcott-Nolan also had no chance.
For those that didn't see the race, Muir chilled at the back for 400m, moved through to take the lead in 62.2 then she continued enjoying the slow pace up to 500m where she promptly put 5m+ on the field and closed with a 42/43 last 300m.
2:01.2, 62.2 then 59.0
Sharp 5th, Walcott-Nolan 6th.
Laura Muir has very little chance of beating Hassan in the 800 meters next month in Berlin. The best she can hope for is 2nd place.
I disagree, Muir has run faster than Hassan this year and in a slower race. Hassan nearly came last in that 1:54 run by Semenya. Perfect race to run a crazy fast time, towed around the whole way.
They are even at worst, but I'll give Muir the edge.

An honest question: Was this a "top-three-qualify format"? I thought UKA could pick whoever they want. Muir, for example, did not run the 1500, yet everyone seems to suppose she will be on the team.
I think they "select" one and the other two positions on a national team are chosen by race results at British Champs.
Not entirely true, they just pick whoever they want. If you have the standard and come top 2 then you have a very strong chance of going but that doesn't secure anything. Everything is at the discretion of the selectors. Muir goes in the 1500 because she wants to and they want her to and that's that. Farah never did the champs and I think in 2012 he ran the 1500m.
In events where things are much tighter i.e. three or four athletes with similar times and performances then running the trials is your chance to beat the others and show you should be picked/not give the selectors much of a decision. If you are Farah or Muir or Jess Ennis or Rutherford you don't need to do anything.
Even Kyle Langford if he's fit may go to Euros despite not running the 800m and 6/8 finalists having the Q time.
P.S. it's coming home.
Hassan was much better than Muir over 800m last year (1:56 vs 1:59) but she was injured? earlier this year and is not as strong, so Muir is very probably stronger than Hassan this year (both in 800 and 1500).
Still, 800m could be a rather open event. And so could be a slowish tactical 1500m (where Hassan lost to Cichocka two years ago despite being much better on paper) although I agree that Muir has a very good chance to win 1500 and at least medal in the 800.
"Very obviously a crowd pleasing decision and one to make the selectors have less of a headache."
Precisely! Maybe acceptable in a Diamond League or other such event but not in a Championship when selection for a major championships is on the line.
The rules should be applied with equal rigour to all competitors. Why should the other runners in his heat be disadvantaged simply because Gemili is a bit of a "name" and has a higher public profile than them? He knows the rules; he should practice his start more often in training!

I agree it's unfair on the other competitors for that particular championships. If I was running I'd be pissed.
But it must be remembered that the crowds turn out to see the big names, Gemili is very popular as the crowds showed when he was reinstated; cheering loudly. Athletics is first and foremost a spectator event, putting on a show for the fans. People forget that.
The British champs aren't necessary for the Europeans. Gemili would have probably been picked for the 200m regardless of running the event. So there's no point in actually DQing him when the paying audience came to see him run.

Lol what? Why exactly do you think I'd be pretending to be English?
Ask the brojos to tell you where my IP is aha.
For the record, I've run in the British champs.

Sure you have....proof? Anyone can say anything they want about themselves on an anonymous discussion forum. Without proof you could just be some club runner, or never have even ran at all.
Are you sure? wrote:

I'm definitely not disclosing personal information on this website haha
But I'm obviously not American either.
I think some people are mixing up "rekrunner" and "ex-runner". I am an American, but have been accused of being British.

I'm calling bullshit on you being English, a British/English person would never, ever, say "pissed" when pissed off about something, they'd say "pissed off", same as Aussies and Kiwis. They'd only say "pissed" when referring to being pissed, as in drunk. Our American cousins say "pissed" when pissed off about something.
And WGAF where your IP is, means nothing when it comes to a persons nationality.
