60 miles is over a day behind string beans FKT from last year? Is it possible for him to make up a whole day?

If he's going NB, then no, he will just get further behind. If going SB, then probably still no, but at least he doesn't have to do NH and Maine.
If he knows Kaiha/Ninja (sp?) and doesn't have qualms about cutting some corners, he can easily catch up to the FKT pace.
Looks like he is going South to North, so yeahhhhh, good luck now. 60 miles behind pace and havent hit the boulder fields and huge climbs yet
Is so 60 miles behind like getting lapped in a marathon on the track?
He has no chance.
he has a very good chance if he can put in two straight days like ultra runner Dane Rauschenberg did at the American Odyssey 202 mile relay event.
After this, if he can do it, will put him ahead of pace.
Where is he at??? Probably already ahead of me. It’s going to be really hot the next week. That’ll be tough on him

Naaah, Rauschenberg is a beast. Harvey is just an ultrarunner.

I miss Kaiha Bertollini and her assistant Jenny Meatballs sooooo much.
I hope they will crush another record soon.
0% chance of him making it.
It's a shame.. he's a good runner, just isn't cut out for the tough and rocky terrain. He is more of a road runner like the folks around here and clearly running on rocky/technical terrain is his weakness.
When you log 2 ~30 mile days back to back and average ~25 min miles, you pretty much eliminate all chances of getting the record.
Seems like a good guy, just is not built for this type of challenge. I think something like trans america run would be more in his wheelhouse, since he is a road runner and not a trail runner.
I've been following it closely and went out and met him on the trail last week.
He had some tough days early and got behind. Caught up a little and then had a day where his legs were shot and he fell a couple times and lost ground. Then got on track again but got behind on sleep and quit early to sleep two days ago.
I don't give him much chance now.
Also, it seems like he was stopping for meals, stopping for massages and treatment, stopping to meet people... The last couple times the record was broken, the margin came down to like 5 minutes per day. All those little stops add up.

He says he's doing this year's Badwater, which he won in 2014, a week after finishing the AT.

Badwater seems cool, but its basically a road race (not technical at all), which plays to his strengths.
All I'm saying is Harvey is a good dude and strong runner, but he's clearly out of his depth when he attempts to go through technical terrain in areas like Pennsylvania, etc.. He is more of a road runner
His PR on the whiteblaze thread is saying that Harvey is still in it and that they have written a schedule to get him back on track... Then he admits it sounds unrealistic. That's not a good PR Guy. Have faith buddy. Or don't.
Ouch - another light day...
Definitely a bummer - if I were him I would call off the record attempt and just enjoy the rest of the AT.
"Harvey's new goals include looking to get under the time of Andrew Thompson 47d, 13h (which FKT lists as the 5th fastest), Pete Palmer's 48d 20 hr, and just getting in under 50 days."

a couple 30 mile days won't kill you. Jurek had more than his share and still got it done
