Sorry but you can't 't claim that Kenyan times aren't slowing on the basis of one guy running 3:29.71.
Coevett, you and mindweak were wrong. Everyone here can see it and that's the end of it.
I'm the guy that claims that given any level of testing under the current system and technology available, times under 3:30 will continue to happen, just like Farah's two 3:28 runs. That doesn't make any statements about how clean the athletes are, just that it is possible to run under 3:30 whilst undergoing significant testing.
I don't understand how you can state that Cheryuoit won't break 3:30 this year, watch him break 3:30, and then still claim you are right somehow.
That takes another level of arrogance and stupidity.
Brainwashed and incapable of thinking outside of what you've been taught to think. That sums up ex-runner, who comes off as someone who could generously be termed a "non-competitor".
Cheruiyot and others will reap the benefits of much more lax testing. Testing that will be more and more lax to save the hides of not only Kenyans, but a lot of third world athletes and countries in general. I was hoping the predictions of the mess becoming worse were wrong but those that knew this were coming do have insight into the problems generated by people who see sports as only one of their tools for socializing the masses. Cheruiyot is along the lines of Lagat, just another very good runner who owes his ability to crack 3:33 - never mind 3:30 - to unfettered drug use. I feel bad for the few clean athletes in E. Africa. Guys who probably do have the ability to eventually break 3:30, but will never put in the time or work necessary because the dopers are too numerous, and have reached the promised land quickly via their PED use.
Stop trying to make people think Mo underwent testing anywhere near what Westerners, Japanese, and others endure. He spent months at a time literally hiding in E. Africa while training and shooting up. Every single year. And we're not talking short photo-op trips with Rupp and others. We're talking the months and months of training away from the eyes of those gullible Westerners - and out of season testers.
Just watch. Outrageous performances are on the way. Hell, maybe Mo will provide us with a 2:01 now that the anointed have been given the green light.
Coevett, it would have been nice to see things cleaned up, but right now those who think it will get worse because of an infusion of money to help tilt things may indeed be correct on many levels.
