Alright. What's going on y'all. I'm new to this site but I have been visiting for a few years now. In highschool, I started XC my junior year and finished with a 15:54 3 mile with 20-30 mile weeks over the summer. Over the summer of senior year, I did about 400miles total. So about 50 mile weeks or less. I ended up going 15 flat for the 3 mile. This may help in showing what kind of runner I am. I'm chasing after a sub 26 8k this season as a Sophmore at. Junior College. I was gonna go D1, but I had money issues so I'm finishing 2 years and transferring. Last season my pr was 26:33(I was injured this race. Had a serious IT band issue). I ran this off of a bad summer. Averaging about 30-40 mile per week. I ran a shamrock shuffle in March at 26:31 off of only 30 mile weeks( welp). I did not do track because my college doesn't have a team. I was still able to do some speed workouts during the track season. I was at 50 mile weeks. Over the summer, I worked up to 70 mile weeks. I threw in a couple of tempos , hillworkouts, and fartleks(ignoring my coaches advice). I limited workouts to only once or twice a week. My tempos were at 5:30 pace for 4 miles. My hill workouts are 400m strides up the hill and jog down for rest. My long runs were 16 miles at 6:30-6:50(depended on the route). My easy runs were at 6:47-6:55. I am now at 70- 80 mile weeks. I slowed down my easy runs to 7 minutes in frustration of my races not going how I want them too. My coach only likes doing mile repeats with 1 minute rest and 1200m repeats with 3 minute rest. My mile repeats are at 5:17 pace. My 1200m repeats are at 4:02. My last race was a 27:09 but the course was not flat by any means. I won the race... but was not satisfied with my performance. Any suggestions? Sorry for the huge post btw.
