Tinman Elite goes home slightly devastated. Sam Parsons briefly had the lead with two to go...finished 8th.
You would think eventually elite 5k runners would learn you don't let the favorite control things from the front from 2+ laps out...
I guess not. Well, except for Kejelcha/Edris.

The problem is that they can't keep up with someone like Chelimo over the last two laps, so they don't take the lead.

Chelimo looked pretty comfortable the whole way
So did Fisher. Good race for him finishing sixth. First non pro.
Race pace was hot then slowed considerably and the last 800 was fast.
Fisher needs to find a fast even paced race to see what kind of time he can run. Impossible to find in the NCAA calendar.

Well done. 13.0 is pretty quick
Not pretty quick, that's fast even in men's competition! Wow!

In the very first photo you linked to, you can see the mid-zone hash mark right at the feet of the official that is standing in lane one on the curve.
I've downloaded that image and blow it up 200%. I don't see nothing. Well, I think I can see a ghost of a mark, but that's not enough for rojo to sight by.
He's going to have to use the the 90m mark and extrapolate.
try google earth. the hash marks are clear as day and the ruler function confirms it's 100 meters from that hash mark. technically, i got 100.36 meters, maybe due to the slight curve.
One of the main reasons why track and field is on life support in this country. Lyles pulls out of the 200, then Norman doesn't run. Coleman, Gatlin, Felix, Sydney, etc., all decided to pass on the national championships. Rodgers has the best prelims time in the 100, and is "MIA" from the semi's with no explanation. I could go on and on, but the point is that if your best people don't compete, who's going to buy a ticket? Really a sad state of affairs.

And then when an Olympic champion decides to run, he ruins it by acting too happy- so we need the stars to run and be charismatic, but only celebrate a slight bit (just kidding- see the Centro hater thread).

well drake is a small stadium and it was EEEEEMMMMTTTYYYY...... just wait until that new hayward is hosting and how empty that thing is going to be! All the "knowledgable Eugene fans" will be able to take up an entire row each!
Hard work, accountability and obesity are conflicting traits. So I do doubt that the first two apply to the midwest.

Ha! How many of the best American-born distance runners ever are from the Midwest?

True. I thought about attending this year because Des Moines is within driving distance, but one of the reasons I did not attend was the amount of stars just not showing up. Non-championship years are a joke, track and field needs a gimmick for these years.
The irony is that your posts are supporting the notion that Midwestern people are more kind (than wherever you are from). I like the people I work with and interact with.

Coleman - pretty sure he's out with a hamstring injury
Gatlin - did he even do outdoor this year? thought he was retiring soon
Felix - nothing left to prove at this point, I don't know if she's committed to another olympic cycle
Sydney - probably figuring out who she's going to sign with. she would have won that 400h race by 1.5 seconds, it's not even a competition for her.
I'd argue that some of the best US talent was indeed at the race - Simpson, Houlihan, Coburn, Huddle, Hall, Grace, Centro, Murphy, Chelimo, Jager. At some point new talent has to come in and there has to be turnover.

Plenty. Bob Kennedy (Indiana), Dathan Ritzenhein (MI), Chris Solinsky (WI), Matt Tegenkamp (MO), Steve Spivey, Craig Virgin, Evan Jager (IL), Jim Ryun (KS) to name eight who are way up there.
I don't know what you consider "midwest" but a fair amount of the best USA distance runner of all time come from the interior.

Yes sorry, Spivey and Ryun are mid distance, I was sort of running out of long distance stars. Oh wait, you got Tim Broe (IL), Pat Porter (MN)...

Todd Williams (MI).
Adam Goucher (CO) was from the Midwest region for Footlocker (if that qualifies).
