Head to head, Shelby has won 2 in a row after Jenny won their first 7 matchups.
So it's not quite fair to say she owns here but do you think this was a changing of the guard?

She owned her today. As for a changing of the guard, I think it's too early to call. Ask again at the end of the season.

What is clear is that Simpson no longer owns Houlihan.
It'll be interesting to see what happens later this summer in Europe. I could see Houlihan, like Muir, having some hiccups as she figures out how to run those races. When that happens, Simpson may beat her.
One of the many reasons going w/o a WC is idiotic. Houlihan would be a medal contender in the VERY least.... Her & Simpson could keep battling in the WC, but save rabbitted races, the season's basically over. PRIME Webb in 2007 didn't get a chance after some learning experiences years prior. Wheating didn't get a chance in his 3:30 season. Noah can't go for Gold. Eliminating the WC's for a season makes zero sense. Tell Michael Jordan that 1997, no ring- instead the season ends in April.
Nope.... wrote:

Replying they'll have other years is idiotic. Nothing's guaranteed & careers can be over quick.
Martinez causes crash !
I'm a bigger shelbo fan now that she doesn't have the crazy hair colors.

YES.
Kate Grace was left in the jet wash of Simpson and Houlihan. Shouldn’t someone with her 800m tools be a better closer?
If Simpson was in any doubt about her ability to outsprint Houlihan before today, there is no doubt any longer. This should make for some interesting races between them going forward in which Simpson will have to push from at least one lap to go. Also looking forward to seeing how races between Houlihan and Muir play out.

There was a WC in 2007 - Webb was in the final.
Nothing to see here. Off season, Simpson didn't push the pace, so easy kick stretch for Houlihan.
On another note, americans are still slow and s h i t.
Brenda Martinez is a got damn wrecking ball in every
race that she runs. Good lord. She is clumsy in her form and running. If I am a runner, I would seriously protest her
being allowed to freaking race.
Kate Grace has a significantly slower 1500 PR than Simpson and Houlihan so it would have to be a slower pace for her to win with a kick.
Lesson learned - don't be an 800m runner trying to move up to the 1500m.. #Brenda and #Grace have no speed last 200m.

I'm not sure, this might only be an issue at the US Champs. The Diamond League races are so much faster that the kicking dynamic might change a bit.

They have the speed they just don't have the strength and endurance to be able to use it at the end of a 1,500.

Houlihan was once an 800 meter runner, and her twitter handle reflects that fact. B

Completely agree.
Every time she races is like a scene from Ricky Bobby.
She doesn't just run an 800 or a 1500.
....She runs like 1590 meters zigzagging her pony short-Clydesdale a$$ around the track.
Every other step is a zig or a zag.
