That is all. Thanks.

For real. If Letsrun is all about supporting the blue collar runner, it doesn't get more blue collar than this.
This is a great idea!
she's not sponsored by Hoka?

Are you trolling? They dropped her at the end of last year, probably for lack of improvement. Now she is having a breakout year after losing her sponsorship. Seems like the type of athlete ready to flourish with the right support.
No not trolling, I have not heard anything about her
Who’s coaching her?

Rochelle kanuho coaches Rochelle kanuho
Someone seriously needs to sponser this gal, she is due for some huge PBs. I’m sure Schumacher or Salazar could give her a shot for a year or two and see how it goes.
She's faster than Gwen Jorgenson, she should get more attention.

Gwen has a huge follow from the tri world to the stay at home moms who hobby jog 5ks and rack up the finisher medals.
Rochelle is a gritty, get down to business don’t care whose watching or who knows who she is kinda runner. A young desi one could say. Hobby jogger moms can’t relate to that becuase he doesn’t seem like a nice girl, but she most definitely is.

Give her a stipend, health care, travel and race entry, some gear, and maybe access to a basic support system, if she wants it, and I wonder what she can do with that.
Move to Michigan and call yourself Desi. No one would no the difference. She is pretty damn good.

Well, they've got an open spot now!
But I would rather live in Flagstaff than Detroit area. Although the Great Lakes are truly great.

She should join up with desi in flagstaff and create their own brooks flagstaff group.
And Hoka just picked up trail specialists Joe Grey and Ashley Brasovan. It's time for kids to realize that running fast times isn't going to move more shoe sales. The general public just doesn't go that way anymore, this is an age where you can connect directly to fans and if you don't want to or aren't any good at that then you'll rightly be left with crumbs, at best. Thus the rise of the sponsored groups, if you can fit in there then you don't have to do it yourself. Curious, was Amy Van Alstine dropped from Hoka NAZ Elite, too?

Bit of a shame that's the case, but it's the way of the world now. Only the top dawgs like Rupp can get away with being weak on social media, but I think even he is coming around to being more personable and relateable. Seems like he sees the twilight of his career and doing the rounds at public appearances like Bill Rodgers will be an important part of his income post-competitive running.
Kanuho is making noise mostly with her performances right now, and I think that's a good way to make a name for yourself rather than the Alexi Pappas route, but working on the social side definitely can help your brand. We are all independent contractors now.

I agree that this is the way things have gone. and I also agree that those who do not play the game will be left with crumbs. where I disagree with you is that I do not think this is right.
I tend to the view that a tailor should be judged by the quality of the suits he makes and a baker by her bread. an athlete should be judged on her performance, and how amusing she is on Twatbook or how many InstaApp fans she has should be utterly irrelevant.
the other side of the coin is somene like, say, Anna Kournikova, who was hugely popular with the media and with a vocal section of tennis fans, but was essentially useless as a player. I would far rather have a hundred Rochelle Kanuho's than a half of Anna Kournikova.
okay, next point.
does anyone know what Rochelle is training for?
I suspect she is going for the 10k in the trials. AFAIK the qualifying standards for 2020 have not been released yet, for 2016 it was 32:25. her pr is 32:08 from Sacramento 2015 and she recently ran 32:18 at Portland and 32:19 at Des Moines, which looks to be on the edge of the window for getting in the trials but is not really competing for a place on the team. does anyone know any more than this?
cheers.
It is clear that she is training to make a living at running, for the time being. She will have a tough timg getting on the team for the 10k, but I wonder what she can do at the marathon. The USA women are deep right now, but in two years, it could be a different situation.
