Oiselle signed Tori Franklin when she was a no name. Now she's an American record holder and Nike wanted to sign her. She was under contract to Oiselle through the summer.
So according to Oiselle Nike just signed her and she just broke her contract with Oiselle.
My thoughts/Qs
1) Legally if she can't get out of the contract then I assume Oiselle could get an injunction and force her to wear Oiselle or not wear Nike. But that costs money.
2) Is there anyway Oiselle could go after Nike for purposely breaking their legal contract? Or can their beef only be with Franklin?
3) If there isn't some sort of explicit statutory damage for getting out of contract early and an athlete's got a better deal some of them are going to take it. Sounds like she calculated what Oiselle would do and figured it was nothing so she bolted. Some people aren't going to do this but some are. Risk/reward. Couldn't Oiselle just write in a) You can break this contract early for $50,000. Then it would be easier to enforce that.
