You should read more. You might learn a few things...
Sorry, didn't catch on to the fact we're talking about fictional coaches. Thought he might be some kind of IIAC legend or something. While on the topic, my favorite fictional coach is Coach Klein.
Big Wartburg invite this weekend, regionally featuring
#2 Wartburg
#4 Cornell
#5 Loras
#6 St Thomas
#7 Gustavus
#10 Grinnell
And Simpson as well
Definitely going to give a better picture of the Conference and Regional landscape
I usually try to freeze my warts off before they get so big.
Conference starting to shape up now. Wartburg gave a beat down to Loras, and Simpson has two guns up front. We'll know more after preseason but didn't think Wartburg would be this far and ahead of the rest already
All we need to see is how Nebraska Wes races on a medium-fast course like the dan huston course and we'll know for sure
I thought Simpson ran very well at Dan Huston, showing that a team can suck hard and get beat by a bunch of FR from Central and then run better later on in the year. Look out for schools that can perform better at the end of the year vs teams that have already peaked
Agreed. Simpson might be able to take out Wartburg by regionals.

you must be kidding

Funniest thing I heard all day must be a Simpson runner
I saw Simpson perform today. Warthog...burg should be worried!
Now that championship season is upon us let’s get the conference discussion going.
Of the 4 races: Men’s individual and team, and women’s individual and team, I think the women’s individual race is the most intriguing.
Perdicitions:
Men’s individual: Pinkowski probably has that pretty well in hand.
Men’s team: Wartburg. It doesn’t seem like anyone can challenge them at this point.
Women’s team: Nebraska’s Wesleyan. Although could be a close race with Warburg, Wesleyan may be a bit deeper plus with home course advantage.
Women’s Individual: This is the one that I think is the least obvious. There are a few girls upfront that will be battle for that title. Collet has been running well thus far, but again Nebraska Wesleyan has home course and two girls, Hegeman and Beierman that could challenge her with that advantage. Also Rosenbum could be a contender as well although she didn’t run at prenats.
Thoughts?
Tbh im more interested in everyone else on the men's side. 2nd place is going to be a dogfight and could have big implications on an at large regional bids. Loras is the obvious favorite for 2nd, but I could see Simpson, NWU, or Central making it interesting.
Also, individually the only competition could be from NWU's Andy Vasquez though it's impossible to say much beyond speculation without any recent head to head results. Sadly, Alex Bass seems to be a shell of his former himelf...and no other team has a real stud.
Probably waited a little too long for this post, but now all meets before conference should be over, so DOME TIME!
UD>Coe @ Mount Mercy
Central>Simpson>Coe @Grinnell
Loras>UD>Luther @Luther
NWU>BVU @NWU
Luther>UD @Blugold
Wartburg>Loras>Simpson>Coe>BVU @Wartburg
Wartburg>Loras>Central @Pre-Nats
NWU>Simpson>Luther>UD @UW-L
Tier 1: Undeated in Conference competitions
Wartburg
NWU
Tier 2: Only beat by Tier 1 teams
Loras (Wartburg, but no match ups w/ NWU)
Central (No match ups w/ NWU)
5. Simpson
6. Luther
7. UD
8 . Coe
9. BVU
So hesitant to say where the top 4 teams will place due to not being sure how NWU will stack up, but should be Wartburg>Loras>Central w/NWU in there somewhere, then the rest of the conference. Anything else is an upset.
I predict that
Men's:
Team: Wartburg
Individual: Andy Vasquez, Sam Pinkowski, Joe Friedburger
Women:
Team: Nebraska Wes
Individual: Carina Collet, Hanna Hegemann, Ellie Beiermann
Second place is wide open right now on the men's side. Loras, Central, NWU, and Simpson all have a shot at it. I am excited to see how conference plays out!
NWU men had no trouble with Simpson at Drews. Not sure if Simpson held anyone out. Loras however has to be favorite for 2nd.
Wartburg women ready to win?
Anyone else cry themselves to sleep last night thinking about "the hill" at the Conference course??
Bold prediction: Upset on the women's side, the 3 Wesleyan girls upset Collet and go 1-3 on their home course!
