Who's winning boys?
Who's winning boys?
It’s highly likely it’ll be Wartburg...unfortunately. Loras loses 4 of their top 7, and I don’t think they’ll reload this year. Pinkowski won’t be challenged for the title.
Um, Pinkowski and Wartburg. Duh
But the better question is...which race will be closer: men's or women's? Wartburg will run away with both barring some horrible injury...but which one will they run away with by more?
Loras incoming freshman ran 9:18 for 3200 at state earlier this month.. Guttornson(?)
Carroll, Kauder, Wolak, Conklin-Little, Till, Hayes, Schultz. All could be top 25 at xc conference if they have a solid summer/fall.
Just like 2015 I think Loras can surprise people...even mighty Wartburg.
Btw nobody cares ! Go Simpson!
To be fair Loras is always good at showing up when it counts...it'll be a good year. Nice to see the IIAC men as a whole more relevant on the national stage lately. I don't have a dog in the fight, but it wouldn't be surprising to see two IIAC men's teams top 12 at nationals if Loras and Wartburg can both put it together on the day.
Have fun celebrating your conference will 5 months in adavance. Don’t harass the DQ workers enough to get in trouble again. Oh, and don’t be surprised (or start bawling *ahem* Sam *ahem*) if you get outperformed in cross like you did in outdoor track. And for the record, My plan is not your plan. - God
Anyone know if wartburg is bringing in any stud freshman again?
Hard to argue against the Wartburg men but women's race may be interesting. Everyone assumed the Wartburg women would win the past 2 years but Nebraska Wesleyan has won both titles. Those ladies have been in the conference 2 years and have won the XC title each year. I think they have won at least 1 track championship as well.
ok how did Sam get outperformed in outdoor track? He was all american.
I can’t wait until we see how wartburg stacks up against NCC this fall. Pre-nationals should be interesting.
God is telling me that Wartburg got outperformed at Conference track, not specific individuals. Also Ricky Bobby’s daddy says if you’re not first, you’re last.
Wartburg probably has the most talent on both the men and women’s side. When was the last time they won a men’s or women’s title? It’s been a while. Loras has won last couple men’s championship and the Nebraska Wesleyan women have never lost a title since they joined the conference. Will this year be different?
Both Wartburg's men and women outscored all teams in the 800 on up at outdoor IIACs this year - the women by a ton. You can total it up on tfrrs. You could say they underperformed...but who outperformed them? They ended the 5k going 1-3-5-8 (men) and 1-2-5-8 (women).
After looking at the outdoor IIAC results from this year, you are correct about the Wartburg distance points. Kind of makes you wonder why they did not win either team title. The Central men just outscored them in all most all other areas while the Nebraska Wesleyan Women ruled the sprints and outscored them pretty good in the throws as well. It will be interesting this fall as I am sure the Wartburg women outscored NWU in the distances in the 2017 outdoor track championship like they did this year yet NWU won the XC title again as they did in 2016. I checked and the IIAC championship meet is in Lincoln, NE. Home court for NWU.
Iiacrules, good analysis of the track championship this pst spring. Central and Nebraska Wesleyan simply had better All around teams. This thread however is about XC! Wartburg men most assuredly dethrone Loras. The Wesleyan women have been a bit of a surprise since they came into the conference. I knew they were kinda good but not 2 time conference champion good. The Wartburg girls surely do not like someone knocking them off their throne. Whether they can do something g about it remains to be seen.
I also heard that conference is at home for NWU this year. I've run there a few times(only the shorter 5k course) and it's certainly far more challenging of a course than anything the iiac has seen recently(Buena Vista or Wartburg) at conference. I think it will be a fun honest race to watch, especially with a large number of notable names on both sides graduating.
If the course is tough look for Wartburg to be heading home on the bus before the the awards are even announced like they did last time it was a hard course (Loras '15). Bunch of sore losers.
Anyone else see that 22 of the top 40 men in the conference meet last year were seniors? It will be interesting to see who steps up to fill that. I'm not sure how that compares to previous years. It's also obviously only one meet... I'm sure placing and time vary at regionals and Nationals
Loras is in for a rude awakening if they seriously think they're gonna win this year.
Newsflash, the Duhawks are done, Wartburg has 5 guys they can put ahead of Carroll, or whoever Loras' one will be.
Oh, and we'll have fun competing for a trophy at nationals while you watch the webcast from Dubuque
